To eliminate hot air from being drawn into the air filters we designed heat shields and lids that together with rubber sealings makes our system feed the engine with nice cold air.Our intake system uses the OEM fresh air inlet ducts that feeds the air filters with fresh air from the grille. This is why a fully sealed intake system is the only way to go to ensure IAT’s are kept to a minimum. A fully sealed system however has a challenge since it results in a restriction with only one stock air feed in the bottom of the air filter box to draw air in from. During development we noticed the system must have a secondary air feed to remove this restriction. Our sealed airbox also has a heat shield to minimize the radiative heat transfer from the exhaust manifold. To guarantee enough air volume around the filter we designed a large 7” airbox which of course also leaves space for strut braces.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eAs replacement of the stock intake hose with designed a smoother larger carbon tube. It starts with a diameter of 105mm (4.1 inches) and tapers down seamlessly to fit the turbo inlet. Fitted to the intake tube is our large custom-designed air filter. The filter has a densely knitted cotton gauze for superior filtration.  It is of course washable and reusable for optimum performance and long service life.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe system comes in a few different layouts. It is compatible with the OE turbo inlet - but also with the do88's CNC machined Turbo inlets. Our turbo inlets are avalible in two different versions, for OE or Pure 800 hybrid turbo. Both have a huge 89mm (3.5\") hose connection towards the inlet pipe and it has a carefully calculated flow optimated radius which greatly improves the air flow. The addition of the do88 Turbo inlet effectively removes all bottlenecks prior to the turbo to avoid surge even et high power outputs!\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eTests conducted in our SuperFlow SF1020 flow bench, clearly demonstrates the importance of this optional Turbo inlet. If you're considering tuning your engine, it's highly recommended to upgrade the charge pipe beforehand.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMany aftermarket charge pipe kits for the B58 engine are available, but in our opinion, most are not properly designed. Many competitors use a basic design: two pipes joined by a straight reducing silicone hose. It's evident they haven't understood the importance of handling the thermal movement in this system. Such design is almost certain to cause problems with the hose popping off due to it does not allow movement from temperature changes. A common solution people think of is tightening the clamps more, but this will in most cases break the pipes since it will deform the clamping surface.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBut we've taken a different approach at do88. For us it was clear the system needs a flexible connection in-between the two pipes which can handle the thermal expansion \/ contractions. Our solution is an aramid reinforced silicone hose with 3-humps. This hose design allow movement in any direction without folding or putting the connections at stress. To further strengthen our design the pipes have CNC-machined 6063 hose connection ends with 3mm wall thickness. We designed our pipes with a larger diameter and smooth mandrel bends to enhance the performance.
