Measures the level of the oil inside the oil pan, includes sealing o-ring.
This sensor is mounted to the oil pan and is responsible for monitoring and measuring oil level in the sump. A failed oil level sensor can cause a warning light to illuminate on your dash. In addition to monitoring the oil level, this sensor is also responsible for monitoring oil temperature and in some cases oil condition.
When installing a new oil level sensor you will also need to replace the 3 hex bolts as they are one-time use only. Also, order 3x 07119905400. Torque the replacement bolts to 8.5Nm.
Engine Oil Level Sensor
An engine oil level sensor monitors the oil level in the engine's oil pan and sends real-time data to the vehicle's ECU (engine control unit). This information helps ensure the engine has enough oil for proper lubrication. The sensor is often used in modern vehicles as an additional safeguard against low oil levels, which could lead to engine damage.
Engine Oil Level Sensor Failure Symptoms
Oil Level Warning Light: The most common symptom of a failing oil level sensor is the oil level warning light on the dashboard. This light may come on even if the oil level is correct, indicating a malfunction in the sensor itself
Inaccurate Oil Level Readings: A faulty sensor may cause incorrect oil level readings, showing the level as full when it’s actually low, or vice versa. This can lead to unnecessary oil changes or leave the engine vulnerable to damage if the oil level is actually too low
